You've done
the hard work
Getting it published shouldn't
be the part that breaks you
Scientific breakdown to breakthrough illustration
Coaching and editing for early-career scientists who want steady guidance and personalized feedback — so you can stop losing time and finally get published.

You spent months in the lab or in the field, running experiments, debugging analyses, redoing what didn't work the first three times. Every data point cost you something. You've earned your results.

The tricky part isn't the science anymore. It's turning that pile of hard-won results into something that reads like a clear, convincing story.

from messy data to publication illustration

Here's the thing: research is messy by nature. It's iterative, nonlinear, full of dead ends and unexpected turns. But a paper is expected to unfold like it was obvious all along. Making that leap — from 'what actually happened' to 'here's the story' — is genuinely hard. It has nothing to do with how good your science is.

Losing momentum on your own project is normal during a PhD. Feeling behind, stuck on the same paragraph for weeks, constantly questioning if you know what you're doing. None of that should be the entree fee for becoming a researcher.

I've been there. I've had the good data and the manuscript that didn't do it justice. A narrative pulling in five directions at once, staring at my own draft at 11pm wondering what the paper was even trying to say anymore. I know that feeling from the inside.

After years of turning research projects into top-tier publications and helping students do the same, I've learned this part gets dramatically easier with the right person next to you. That's what I offer.

What if you could submit within few months, and feel the relief of moving on to your next, more exciting project?

What's it like to work with me?

  • A fellow scientist who speaks your language. I've done the research, collected the data, revised, and published—I know how hard it is to publish a paper from start to finish.
  • No judgment. A draft is never too messy, and no question is too basic. Bring me the chaos.
  • Genuinely available. I won't vanish after sending tracked changes. Whether you need a full manuscript overhaul or just someone to think out loud with, I'm here.
  • Feedback specific to your work. I take the time to understand your research, your argument, and where you want to go. I don't give generic feedback.

A manuscript shouldn't sit in a drafts folder for another six months. Your results matter—and the world can only build on work it can actually read. I built Morpho Editing because great science deserves to be told well. Let's make sure yours is.

Developmental Editing

Substantive editing

Substantive editing is an advanced level of editing. I will help you turn your results into a clear scientific story, refining the structure, argument, figures, and language so your research reads as clearly as it deserves.

Right for you if:
  • You’re submitting a thesis, manuscript, or grant proposal, and want the best chance of success
  • Your results are solid, but the manuscript still feels unclear or difficult to structure.
  • You want your paper to tell a compelling scientific story, instead of a collection of disconnected results.
  • You need a fresh, professional perspective after spending too long inside the same draft.

About Me

Camille

Camille Le Roy, PhD

I'm Camille. Research scientist, field biologist, biomechanist — but above all, someone who understands the challenges of an academic career.

With a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Paris and over seven years of interdisciplinary research spanning ecology and biophysics, my path has taken me from the cloud forests of Peru to labs in France and the Netherlands. Along the way, I came to realize a struggle shared by many researchers: we're good at the doing — the experiments, the models, the fieldwork — but we struggle to hit 'stop' and immerse ourselves in the writing.

I’ve been on that road. I know that turning years of messy data into a compelling story is a long, eventful adventure. Having authored eight first-author papers in top-tier journals (including in Science, Nature Communications, PLOS Biology) and served as a reviewer for a range of multidisciplinary journals, I’ve learned the nuts and bolts of turning raw results into a manuscript that actually get published. There's a specific kind of thrill I get from taking messy, complex data and finding the story hiding inside it. It's one of my favorite parts of the work.

Besides research, you'll find me chasing a similar kind of flow state — on a skateboard, a snowboard, or trying (often failing) to stay upright on a slackline. Traveling is where a lot of this started, and I still find my best thinking happens far from a desk.

With Morpho Editing and Coaching, I dedicate my expertise to helping fellow scholars transform their research into narratives that truly do justice to their discoveries.

Why 'Morpho'?

During my academic journey, I studied the evolution of morphology and flight biomechanics in insects, particularly the iconic Morpho butterflies of the Amazon rainforest. My editing business takes its name from them.
